Size 1 & 2 circs for magic loop?

I’m so sorry if this topic has been beaten to death. I did do a search but all that came up were threads about different interchangeable needles.

I have a set of Denise Interchangeables that I absolutely LOVE! But the smallest needles are size 5.

I want to start knitting socks magic loop, so I need to go out and buy 32" or 40" circs in sizes 1 and 2.

My problem is that I have no idea which needles will work for me.

I’m not worried about the needles themselves. I’m okay with steel, bamboo, plastic, etc…it’s the cable that worries me.

I need the cable to be very flexible since I’ll be magic looping, and it needs to have a very smooth join.

Can anyone recommend any for me?

gt the fixed circs at knitpicks.com. I don’t have thier interchangeable sets, but I use thier fixed circs for socks. I have 24" ones, but I prefer 2 circ method. The cable is very flexible - perfect for ML, too.

I have Addi Turbos in both size 1 and 2 in the 32" lenth and I love them. They’re a little pricey – $12-$13 – but the cable is extremely flexible and the joins to the metal needles are very smooth. I use them mainly for knitting socks 2-at-a-time using Magic Loop and I’ve had them twisted up so many ways, but they still work like a dream. I highly recommend them!

I would go with Knitpick Options. The cables are soft, snag free and flexible. Good luck!!

I also prefer the two circ method and recommend the fixed KP Options or Harmonies if you don’t like metal.

I love my Addi Turbo’s ! They are pricey, but for magic loop I prefer the fixed cable. The Addi’s really have a nice tip to them that makes working with those tiny little stitches pretty easy, yet doesn’t fray the yarn.

Most interchangables don’t go under a size 4 or 3. The device to hold the needles to the cable is larger than that. You’ll most likely end up with fixed. I use 40" because I do 2 at a time. I have one set of Addis and just ordered some KnitPicks. I’ll let you know how they compare in a few days hopefully :slight_smile:

My personal faves for Magic Loop are (in order):

1.) Kollage Square Circs with the AWESOME K Kable (The BEST and most flexible cable IMHO)
2.) Knit Picks Fixed Circs (Nickel Plated)
3.) Addi Turbos

These 3 needle brands are the only ones I will use for Magic Loop and I prefer the 40" length in all of them!

I love the Knit Picks options. They’re my favorite needles to use.
