Sirdar Pattern 1222 - Smiley Stripes Beret help

Hi there, I’ve just started this Sirdar pattern and am stumped :frog:
I’m making the first size and have 75 stitches on the needle. Using the following row I should end up with 90 sts.

1st row. K2 [4:3], m1, (k5, m1) 14[14:15] times, k3 [5:5]

Am I right that I knit 2, make 1, then repeat knit 5, make 1 until I have 3 sts left on the needle and knit the final 3? I keep getting odd numbers and never 90 :zombie:

I seem to come up with 90. . .

Make sure you’re doing a m1 between the stitches rather than kfb, which uses a stitch.

So k2, m1=3

k5, m1=6–6X14=84

k2=3 all add up to 90, using 70 stitches.

thanks on top of reading the pattern with difficulty I was also doing the m1 incorrectly… all for a baby hat :cheering: delighted to learn something new! thanks so much
