Single cast on question...I'm confused!

single cast on looks easy to me so I thought I’d try it out. I followed amy’s instruction video but there is no sound so maybe I’m missing something. when i am done casting on the working yarn is at the bottom of the needle instead of the top as usual. What do I do? Is something wrong? Do I need to transfer my knitting over to the other needle so the yarn is in the right spot to knit (hope that made sense). That seems like more work than it’s worth if you do. Help please. Thanks.

I’ve never tried this cast on myself but it seems to me that you can chose yourself which end of the yarn you’ll use to cast on with and which end you’ll leave dangling at the beginning.

Can you cast on with the end of the yarn that comes from the skein?

I just tried you suggestion and it worked out great! Thanks for the idea. This is especially cool becasue you don’t have to guess how much tail yarn you need when you cast on. You don’t really need any. Just enough for a slip knot. Does anyone who has used this see a problem with it that I’m missing?

Certain cast ons are better for certain things, depending on whether you need it to be stretchy or not, for example. In the descriptions Amy gives of the Cast ons on the technique page, it suggests what CO’s are suited to different projects.

I don’t think the single cast on looks as nice as the long tail and for me it seems hard to knit from getting started…just my opinion though.
