I’m knitting a cardigan called Mocha Marvel? Anyway, I stupidly ripped it out from the mag so no idea what issue no. it is but I’m having trouble decreasing at the armholes while staying in double moss pattern.
Has anyone knitted this at all?
Simply Knitting Magazine - Help with Pattern
It was on January 2008 issue no.36. I checked it out on Ravelry. The pattern is also called Anise. I can’t really help you with the decreases, because i don’t see the pattern. Could you point out the specific point where you’re having the trouble?
I think she wants to know how to keep the double moss pattern after binding off at the underarm and decreasing. But it would help to know how you do the pattern stitch. Is it a k2, p2 pattern on 2 rows then switches to p2, k2? You should be able to know which are knits and which are purls, so after you BO, the next st will be however it appears. Just stay in the pattern wherever on the row you end up after decreasing.
Thanks both - I’m not always good at explaining what I mean - YES it is that one KnittingNat.
Anyway, I’m working 4 rows of double knit which is as follows:
Row 1 (RS) K1, *P1, K1 Rep from * to end
Row 2 & 3 P1, *K1, P1 Rep from * to end
Row 4 As row 1
This is fine until I get to
Keeping patt correct, dec 1 st at each end of next 3 rows then on foll 1 alt rows.
The previous dec in the pattern was sl 1, k1, psso at one end and k2tog at the other but I’m just getting in a real mess when I try and keep the moss pattern - I can’t for the life of me work out whether to purl or knit the stitches after the decrease - sorry for being such a dunce!!
Rows 1 and 2 are like regular ribbing, knit the knit sts, purl the purl sts on the row you’re on. Rows 3 and 4 are the opposite - knit the purls and purl the knits. You’ll be on the 2nd st of the pattern when you do the first decrease row, on the 3rd st the next row, and so on.
suzeeq - I just can’t thank you enough! I’ve already ripped twice and I’m determined to get this right!
I need to - it’s meant to be a Christmas present for my sister but it’s my first clothing project!
I’ll post a picture when it’s done but again - THANK YOU!!
