Simplifying patterns?

Hey all!

I want to make a doll like this http://patriot.net/~annette/patterns/cybertots/redtot.html for my friend, but as one of her characters. The only problem is, I don’t want to knit that sweater, just a normally knit little shirt. I also wanted to make a little trenchcoat for her to wear, but I don’t know where I’d find a pattern to fit the doll.
I don’t even understand all those sweater instructions to convert them to a simple knot shirt lol

To knit a simple sweater, it seems all you’d need to do is convert the pattern stitches to regular stockinette. I’d keep the ribbing, though, so that the sweater won’t curl. (Unless that’s what you want.)

Knitting that will be great sweater-making practice! :thumbsup:

So…everywhere it says to do something I don’t understand, just keep on ribbing? Like where is says, seed, and pat, I substitute the rib?

I would do ribbing for the bottom of the sweater and then stockinette for all the rest if you just want a basic knit top. Stockinette, in case you don’t know, is alternating knit one row (the right side row) and purl one row (the wrong side rows).

I still find these instructions very confusing though…I can’t even find where the head or anything is knit… :s Am I blind?

I don’t see instructions for the head either…weird! :shock: I thought it might be knit with the hat in some way, but it’s not. Email them and ask about the head!

I checked the other two versions of the doll too, and there’s only the clothes instructions :s I’ll e-mail them now :slight_smile:
