Simple question, I can't do the math!

I’ve overthought this and my brain is now scared and confused!

My pattern calls for Yarn that is 20st to 10cm, and size 7 (4.5mm) needles.
The Yarn I have is 19st to 10cm. What do I do with the needles? Go up a size or down? Or just knit loser or tighter?

Does that make sense?

Thanks for reading!

You would want to knit tighter (in order to fit more stitches into the space) or drop a needle size (to get smaller stitches so you can squeeze in another stitch).

What are you making? It’s very possible that your guage is close enough to work just fine.
