Im pretty new to knitting and have only made 2 basic knit scarves… well, i’ve decided to get brave and try this one! http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/decoscarf1patt.html
I cant seem to find this answer anywhere, so can someone tell me in the pattern when it calls for k3,k5,p5,k5, k3… does that mean i do 3 knit stitches, 5 knit stitches, 5 purl stitches and so on or 3 rows or knit stitches? Thanks for the help!!!
Simple question about patterns
Right the first time. Knit 3 stitches (this will be your border), knit 5 stitches, etc.
odd rows: k3, k5, p5, k5, k3 = k8, p5, k8
even rows: k3, p5, k5, p5, k3 = k3, p5, k5, p5, k3.
these 2 rows form the stitch pattern so you will repeat these, alternating odd row, then even row. then you change it to the reverse part. and alternate those.
Those 2 sets of k sts in the odd row are just to define the garter st border from the brick pattern.
