I’m searching for simple ankle sock pattern for men that uses 1 set of double pointed needles pref. size 3 or 5. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate. I’ve been searching for 3 days and haven’t had any luck.

I don’t know of a specific pattern for men’s ankle socks, but you can take pretty much any pattern and just make it shorter. With this pattern/tutorial you can use any yarn and needles you want.
I second the nomination of Silver’s Sock Class socks! I am making the pair of socks, 2 Toe-Up Socks on 1 long circ, and I must say the directions are fantastic~very clear and easy to understand!
She has several tutorials on socks using different methods. I think you could take any sock for men and just shorten the leg portion to come up with an ankle version. I am planing on doing a pair like that myself for my DH, too! I am making another pair first though (the pair I mentioned above)to practice~since it’s only my second pair!
I would recommend the pair I’m making (2 Toe-Up Socks on 1 long circ) but you specified DPNs…I have heard of a Sock-Calculator, where you just punch in the numbers/and gauge I think, and it gives you a “recipe” for a sock to fit! Very cool .
here it is:

here’s another I found, but I’m not sure of the needles required:
