Simple cast on

I’m starting the hood of a baby sweater and it says to purl to the end of the row and then cast on 2 stitches using either the cable cast on or the simple cast on. Is the simple cast on the same thing as the single cast on?

Yes, simple, e, single, or backwarrd loop CO, they’re all the same.

Thanks! This is the last step to the sweater and then I can seam it all together! I’m getting really excited as this will be the first sweater I’ve ever knit.
