Yes, my husband and I do all the time! I’m trying to think of the tune I use, I think it’s the Mexican hat dance… “My name is (dog’s name), and I’m a doggie, lala lala lala la, and I do doggie things, in doggie ways, lala lala lala lala…”
Yes, I’m a dork! And I sing Danny Boy to my John Boy, changing the name of course
I love this thread! I sing Danny boy substituting Benny for my dog Bentley. I also sing the Oscar Meyer song which always cracks me up since Bentley my last name has way too many letters.
My puppy has a first name its Bentley my puppy has a second name its P****** oh I love to hug(or kiss depends on the day) him every day and if you ask me why I’ll saaaay cause Bentley P****** has way of making me smile today.
another Oscar Meyer version he hears quite frequently is Oh, I’d love to be an Bentley my last name .That is what I’d truly like to be.'Cause if I were an Bentley my last name,Everyone would be in love with me.
I have quite a few others! I also sing to my cats but they look at me like I am crazy. Where as Bentley sits and wags his tail. I’d much rather sing to a receptive audience.
Our 3rd dog used to belong to my friend until he got to be too much for her. She used to feed him hot dogs all the time. So now when we have them, or anything resembling a hot dog he goes crazy. I was eating a fudgesicle once and I had to lock myself in another room!
 Oh yeah, we sing crazy songs to our pets and like many of you they include part of their names. I don’t even know the entire tune or real words most of the time, but the pets don’t care. :roflhard:
Can’t remember the songs right now, but when I do I’ll post them.
It’s so comforting to know I’m in good company. :teehee: I sing any song to my Bailey and she gets so excited and wants to play when I sing to her. She’s fantastic.
A few minutes ago I was making lunch and my dog was nearby so what did I do? I started singing “Foofie, Foofie cocoa puffs, Foofie Foofie boo.”- sung to the old Shimmy, Shimmy Ko-Ko Bop" Then I remembered this thread. :roflhard:
Click the link and scroll down to hear it. It came out when I was 10 maybe… I think. :teehee:
My puppy Sandee is a little over weight…and after walking around and hearing different pronouciations of Collie (I say Call-e, but I have heard others say Coal-e) my dad started calling her a Rolly Pol-ie Coalie…
So now when I am visiting home…I starting singing that to the tune of Rolie Polie Olie, from the kids show…
I am so glad I am not alone! I sing to my dogs all the time. I always change the songs but lately its been the wheels on the bus… I just changed the lyrics to the doggies on the bus instead of the babies…I would never admit that outside of this forum
My old girl can’t hear me sing anymore, a blessing in disguise?, but I sing all kinds of songs to her. It cracks our DGD up no end.
To Danny Boy:
“Oh Maddie Girl, your ears are far too per-er-ky. Your beautiful coat, makes people pet your head. Your potato-y nose . . .” You get the idea.
My neighbors undoubtably think I’m a nut case. :woot:
I never used to, but my best friend comes to visit me from out of town, and she takes my big ol’ doggie’s face in her hands and sings to him. She sings this song:
I l-o-v-e y-o-u…You’re all of my dreams come true.
From your cute little toes, to the tip of your nose.
I l-o-v-e y-o-u.
My dog loves it. He “talks” to her while she’s singing it.
Maybe I’ll try singing to him (and maybe even all the rest of my pets…total of 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 turtles and 1 fish)
I love to sing “Cat, I’m a Kitty Cat, and I Dance, Dance, Dance” to my kitties. It comes from this Youtube video, if anyone wonders :teehee: //youtu.be/<object width=“425” height=“344”><param name=“movie” value=“http://www.youtube.com/v/DpA2tMrQ4RU&hl=en&fs=1”></param><param name=“allowFullScreen” value=“true”></param><param name=“allowscriptaccess” value=“always”></param><embed src=“http://www.youtube.com/v/DpA2tMrQ4RU&hl=en&fs=1” type=“application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=“always” allowfullscreen=“true” width=“425” height=“344”></embed></object>
Ach! I never get that Youtube thing right. It always looks right when I preview the post though. One of these days I’ll get it right. Lets try it again, but just in case the link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpA2tMrQ4RU
Well, my dog’s name is Sunshine (obviously) and so, of course, I sing all the Sunshine songs to her.
You are my Sunshine, My only Sunshine…
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy…
I also sing loads of other things like Knock on Wood (she likes that one) or whatever song I have in my head at the particular time. Or, like you all, I’ll make something up on the spot.
