I am actually doingm very well for a beginner…getting better lol! But, my sides are not even, for example…a scarf lol. Looks bad! goes in and out. Can someone help me? What am I doing wrong?

You’re a beginner, so your tension is probably not as even as it will eventually become. When you’re done, you can try wetting the scarf and straightening it out. 
You can also slip the first stitch as if to purl and knit the last stitch for nice edges. Practice will also help even your tension as Ingrid has said.
