Short Sleeve Question

I have decided to add short sleeves to a no-sleeve pattern and I’ve picked up the stiches around the armhole and have begun to knit the sleeve in the round. I’ve noticed that doing it this way makes the length of the sleeve at the armpit longer than the length at the shoulder. How do I lengthen the top (shoulder)part of the sleeve and keep the bottom (armpit) shorter and have it look even when wearing the sweater?
Thank you -

I can’t really give you specifics offhand, but if you do short rows on the top of the sleeve, that will give you more of a sleeve cap. Hopefully, someone can give you something more specific, but it’s a place to search.

See the 3 pattern pieces on this page? The one on the left is the body, and it has the armhole in it. Then the one on the right is the sleeve-- see how the top of the sleeve come up and around? That is what you’re trying to accomplish, but I don’t know how to do it without a pattern. The problem is the you’re picking up the sts around the arm hole and just proceeding to knit, so that it’s as if the top of the sleeve were a straight line, instead of that curve.
