Hi! I looked at the video but it seems to die out half way for me. I get to see how they’re done and how the stitches on the side get wrapped, but I don’t know what happens when you get back to those stitches again. Do you just keep wrapping the yarn around them?
I’m at the heel finally and I tried to guess what it meant by W&T but I ended up with holes and it looked yucky so I decided to be smart and check Knittinghelp. Hehe.
When you get to the wraps you want to pick them up and knit them together with the stitch that was wrapped.
Before you turn to do the next row you want to wrap the stitch next to the one you’ve knit together a second time so that there are then two wraps around it which you will pick up and knit when you get back to them.
I hope this isn’t overwealming for you since you’re just trying to get a hang of short rows in the first place, but they became much easier for me when I heard about Japanese Short Rows. It is the same, in theory, but just gone about a slightly different way that made things a lot clearer for me.
I will look more closely at the Japanese short rows. I was getting gaps doing it my way by simply turning the work around then keep going. Huge gaps. That’s what frogging is for, though, and starting over. Just more practice =)
Yep, gaps happen when you don’t wrap the stitch at the turn. Then when you come back to it, pick up the wrap and knit it with the stitch (like a k2tog) and it’s invisible.
