Short Row Rib scarf with Classic Elite Blithe?

I want to make this:

Doesn’t give a gauge … just says ‘bulky merino’ yarn with 7mm needles.

I want to make this type of scarf from Class Elite Blithe http://www.classiceliteyarns.com/product_page_detail.php?category_id=2&item_id=5 which says 5.5 stitches per inch on US #5 needles.

Will this work? I’m not sure how to adapt the pattern for the lighter weight yarn. I want it to be a man’s scarf, so it can be a little bit shorter, but I still want it to be ‘standard’ scarf width.

If this pattern won’t work, can someone recommend a similar looking pattern that would be good for this yarn?

I think that you would be able to double-strand the Blithe to get a bulky equivalent. Kinda hard to guess the gauge, you’ll probably have to swatch and play around with the needle size to get it in range for the width you want.
