Short Row Rib scarf question

I started this scarf, but I don’t like the way the scarf edges are coming out. Would it be possible to slip the first stitch/knit the last with this pattern? I’ve never done one like this before. :?? Thanks!

Sure, try it out and see how it looks.

I could just try it and may do so, but I was wondering if anyone has tried it or knows the pattern well enough to see if it’s feasible.

I’ve done the pattern, but don’t slip edges when I knit. You could take some scrap yarn and try out a few rows with it. You’d probably have to do your inc on the second stitch instead of the edge stitch, or do a M1 between the first and second stitches.

Yes, I will have to just give it a try I guess.

You don’t slip the first and knit the last when doing scarves? It makes a lovely edge!

KellyK made that scarf, maybe she could enlighten you?

Oh thanks KQ!

Jan,

I haven’t made many scarves, the ones I did were garter and most were eyelash yarn where you can’t even see the edge. When I have slipped the first st, the edge comes out very loose and loopy and I don’t like it. I’m doing a couple now that have a split in the neck/collar where I slipped those edges. However, I didn’t like how they came out, so I ended up doing a chain stitch with a crochet hook over them.
