Short row help?

Hi! I’m usually a lurker here, but I’m jumping in to ask for help now. I’m working on a pair of shorties. I’ve been doing short rows for a while, so you’d think I’d know what I’m doing, but I guess I don’t. :teehee:

So here’s my question: I always do fine with the first turn and wrap, but the second one (coming back around) always has such a tight wrap that I can barely knit it, and I always think it look wonky. And it leaves a HUGE loop on the inside. I have a little loop on the first T&W, but not nearly as bad. What am I doing wrong? It feels like the wrap is backward or something, IDK. And is there a way to keep it from making the loops on the inside?

Some pics so ya’ll can see what I’m talking about:

This is the bad side… I guess it doesn’t look as wonky as I thought it did, but still…

The good side:

The ginormous loop on the inside of the bad side:

The big loop (white arrow) and the little loop (gray arrow):

Your ‘bad’ wraps don’t look all that bad to me. Try wiggling the sts around where the loop is on the inside, or see what happens when you wash or block the item. You can put what you’ve got done now on scrap yarn and wash/dry/block it and see if that helps even out things.

thanks, sue! i think i figured out what i’m doing wrong with the tight wrap, and it’s helped with the loops, too.
