I’ve knitted standard triangular shawls (4 increases on RS) and also made wider shallower shawls by adding increases at the edges on WS rows. I would like to make a shawl that’s wider than the standard triangle, but not as shallow as the other type. Thinking of doing the usual 4 increases on the RS, but making edge increases only on every other WS row. I know that will make the edge irregular, but if I use light weight yarn and a fairly inconspicuous increase like kfb, I don’t think it would be really noticeable.
Has anyone tried this, and if so, were you happy with the results? Thanks for any input!!

I haven’t worked many shawls but your suggestion of slowing the edge increases should work. Blocking is always going to be important with a shawl especially if it’s lace.
Just checking back in to say that I finished the shawl, making kfb increases on the wrong side every other row. The shape is exactly what I hoped for – a bit wider than a standard triangle, but not extreme. And I was able to block it with “wings” so it drapes nicely around my neck.
