Okay, so I finally got started on Cozy and have done 2 pattern repeats so far. Only my edges look wonky. I often have this problem, but it’s usually with something that’s going to be seamed, so I ignore it.
I am slipping the first stitch of each row purlwise with the yarn in back. But the edges look different from each other, of course, b/c the rows alternate knit and purl yet I am not doing anything different at the end of the row to compensate for the fact that I will be slipping. I realize now I should’ve done something to compensate. But what?
Now one edge has garter-ish bumps on it and the other looks sort of stockinette-ish. I’m including pics but I don’t think they necessarily show what I’m talking about very well.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to frog this baby and start from scratch b/c whatever I do to fix the problem from here on out, these first 16 rows are going to look funky next to it. But could someone give me a clue what I ought to be doing to make the edges match each other? Should I alternate slipping the first stitch knitwise and purlwise? And if so, when should I do which? Or should I be knitting the last stitch of each row, even on a purl row?
Any and all advice welcome!
