I’m trying to follow this pattern to shape the neck of a sweater, but am at a complete loss for what the following means:
Shape Neck
Next Row (RS): K2, ssk, k6 (7, 7, 8, 8), sl next 7 (8, 8, 8, 9) sts to a holder; join a 2nd ball of yarn and k to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2 - 9 (10, 10, 11, 11) sts on each side.
Work both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn.
Thisis my first ever sweater. I am doing the smallest size, so the numbers in brackets do not apply to me.
You’ll be dividing the sweater at the neck to create the two sides/shoulders.
Making the smallest size…
Shape Neck
Next Row (RS): K2, ssk, k6, drop working yarn (1st ball), sl next 7 sts onto a holder (or spare needle or scrap yarn). Take a 2nd ball of yarn and k the next sts until 4 sts remain, k2tog, k2. You should have 18sts in total - 9 sts on each side separated by the sts on a holder.
Continue pattern working both sides (sets of 9sts) at the same time with separate balls of yarn.
