Hi , I have completed this jumper before but it appears to not be quite what I remember what I have knitted before. As I have photos of it .
If you could run me through the instructions would be most grateful. I have attached a clip of the neck shaping of it .
Since I lost my mum nearly a year and a half ago she was my knitting helper/guru. So I am alittle lost without her.
Thanks again ,
Shaping Neck on raglan of Rowan Pattern Askrigg
Welcome to KH!
I’m sorry to hear about your mother. You were fortunate to have her as a knitting guide.

What size are you making, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc?
If you call the very first decrease row (RS) under Neck Shaping row 1, for the first size you would also decrease at the neck edge on rows 2 and 3, then on row 5. For the armhole edge, decrease on rows 2 and 4. Again for the first size, work row 6 then turn and k2tog and fasten off.
The next 16sts go on a holder for all sizes. Start a new end of yarn and knit to the last 2 sts, then k2tog.
If you let me know the size you’re making I’ll be happy to reverse the shaping if you need that.
Ah, should have said I am doing the 1st size. Thank you, it appears that I did the shaping correctly but I think it is the K2tog ,k6 is the one that threw me off . I thought it was the next edge. 🤦 . You can tell it has been a while since I knitted since mum’s passing grief was very difficult.
Looks like I will need to do some unpicking on this and redo again ah better now than it looking like badly shapen jumper
…
Yes , pls if you could send me the reverse shaping as well I will note it down as well thanks again.
Good to be on track. It’s a very good-looking, classic pullover.
For the other shoulder, follow the directions to knit across to the last 2sts, then k2tog. Call that row 1. Decrease at the neck edge on rows 2 and 3 then on row 5. Decrease at the armhole edge on rows 2 and 4, and on row 6 k2tog (or p2tog) and fasten off.
I did just that when I put the 16stitches on hold and when I did the next half of the shoulder it looked as though I have a gap on both ends it doesn’t look right not like when I did the first one see this link

This was my first Askrigg jumper quite odd I managed to get this one done with out a hitched . Did this 9years ago in 3 weeks . For my hubby. Doing this one for my future son in law.
Just uploaded this current one so you can see the difference and why it is bugging me so much. I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to craft work like knitting and sewing. So , when something is not right it really does bug me alot .
I find the gap between the 2 shoulder end of the 16 stitches is the one that bugging me so much on either side .
Not too sure what I have done wrong??
Your knitting on both sweaters looks very pretty. There’s nothing wrong that I can seel
The gap between the shoulders and the held sts is because the stitches on either side have stretched out a bit. There’s no missing sts there. The space will close up when you pick up sts for the neckband and connect them to the held sts.
Ok thank you very much most appreciated that. is a if a relief phew…
I have proceeded on the sleeve now part way. Written all that down.
Thanks alot again .
