Shaping Handle--Can't quite get it

Pattern
C/O 37 sts on size 13 needles*
Switch to size 15 needles and work 6 rows of stockinette stitch. Slip the first st of each row (this creates an easier selvedge to sew)

Row 7: sl 1, k 10, B/O 15, k 11
Row 8: sl 1, p 10, C/O 15, p 11

Where I am stuck is in row 8. How do I C/O 15 stitches in the middle of this? I am sure the answer is very simple. Can someone please help me???

You cast on 15 stiches right above the previous row where you bound off 15 stitches. It makes sort of a slit handle.

Sounds like you are making a purse that looks like this one:

You can use the backward-loop cast on. I found it on the View Videos under Cast on it is called Single Cast On. That should work for your project.

I’d prefer knitted or cable cast on for this–backward loop is good for a few stitches, but I think one of the others will make a nicer edge.

I agree with Ingrid. When you get to the place where the sts were bound off, switch the right needle to the left hand, cast on 15 sts, then switch it back and complete the round. Knit the new sts on the next round when you come to them.

THANK YOU!!! I think I might be able to get it. Hopefully!
p.s. I am making reusable grocery bags out of plastic bags, christmas gifts. It’s Christmas in July!
