Shaping armholes

Hi. I’m a little confused by what I should be doing on the dec. of the armhole.

Dec 1 st at each end of the next 11 rows (I’ve done this). Then on the foll 5[5:6:6:7] alt rows (done this). Then on foll 4th row. 73[79:85:93:101] sts. Not sure if I should dec every 4th row till I get the right stitch count, or dec for the next 4 rows.

Many thanks

Gill

Welcome to KH!
You should only need to dec on the following 4th row. That’s a single row. That should bring you to the correct stitch number for your size.
How many sts did you start with and how many should you end with? Are you decreasing at the beginning and at the end of the row?

Hi. Thank you for answering.

I Thought it should be a single dec at each end on the 4th row. I started with 157 stitches. My stitch count was correct right up to this point. I’m now 9 stitches too many. I should have 101 stitches after dec on the 4 row. I am dec at each end of the rows.
I’ve wondered if there is a mistake in the pattern. It’s a Rowan pattern. FIA by Amy Herzog.

Hmm, it doesn’t add up. Is there are bind off at the underarms to begin this shaping?

No, there is no bind off instructions. It’s as I’ve written. Not sure what to do. Apart from carrying on decreasing a further 4 rows.

You can contact Amy Herzog. The designer should support her work. She’s the best person to clarify.
