I am knitting this pattern: Bubble Stitch Cardigan
I am working on the left front.
LEFT FRONT
Cast on 28 [32: 34: 38: 40] sts using 8mm (UK 0 – US 11) needles
and A.
row 1 (rs) K1, *P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.
row 2 *K1, P1, rep from * to end.
These 2 rows form rib.
Cont in rib until work measures 7 cm, 2 ¾ in, ending with
a rs row.
Joining in B when required, now work in patt as follows:
row 1 and every foll alt row (ws) purl, using same color as
used for previous row.
row 2 using A knit.
row 4 using A knit.
row 6 (rs) using B K2, K4 below (see abbreviations), *K3,
rep from * to last 1 [1: 3: 3: 1] sts, (K4 below)
0 [0: 1: 1: 0] times, K1 [1: 2: 2: 1].
row 8 using B knit.
row 10 using B knit.
row 12 (rs) using A K4, *K4 below, K3, rep from * to last
0 [0: 2: 2: 0] sts, (K4 below, K1) 0 [0: 1: 1: 0] times.
These 12 rows form patt.
Cont straight in patt until 46 [50: 50: 54: 54] rows fewer have
been worked than on back to shoulder cast-off (bound-off),
ending with a ws row.
Shape front slope
Keeping patt correct, dec 1 st at end of next and every foll
4th rows until 17 [20: 22: 25: 27] sts rem.
Work 5 rows, ending after patt row 7 or 1 and with a ws row.
I knitted 73 rows including the cast-off row for the back piece. Per the “continue until you’ve knit 50 rows fewer” instruction, believe that means I can only knit 22 for this left front piece.
I’m confused about the note to dec 1 st at end of next and every following 4th rows until so many stitches remain. When we say every following 4th row, does that mean when we encounter row 4 in the pattern (which consists of 12 rows that we repeat) we dec? Or every four rows from this row on out.
For example, if I’m at the “9th” row in the pattern (but 22nd row knit overall), I will dec this row and the four rows after that (in this case 9 + 4 = 13 = 1st row in the pattern and 1 + 4 = 5th row in this pattern) ?
Thank you in advance!! And Happy New Years!
