Shape back neck and shoulders

Hi, I am confused on what I need to do. The pattern reads:
Next row (RS): Patt [39] sts omitting any dec that is not followed by a *fwd and turn, leaving [75] sts on a stitch holder. (which I have done). It then says work each separately - but how do I do that?
It then says - Next row (WS): Cast off 2 sts, patt to end. [37] sts.
I’m confused on what I need to do? Am I reading it all wrong? Any help would be much appreciated. It is MODE at ROWAN pattern called SOFIA.

You’re going to be working one shoulder while leaving the other shoulder on hold. Once you’ve worked this shoulder you’ll return to the held sts and work the second shoulder.
You’ve worked across the 39sts of shoulder one, now turn to the WS and cast off 2sts then finish the WS row. At the end of the row you’ll turn to the RS and follow the next directions.
Great looking pullover!

Hi, Thank you for your help but I don’t understand where I have gone, I have patterned the 39 sts, then says leaving the rem 75 sts on a stitch holder but I have more than 75 sts! :slightly_frowning_face: Now what do I do?! It doesn’t make sense as I’ve followed the pattern to the size I’m doing and it has all been OK.

Hi, Sorted it, my mistake! Checked my sts and it is the next size, so it should be 45 instead of 39, the odd thing is though I have done the pattern on the smaller size and it all worked out OK! Anyway I will now try your instructions and see how I get on! :hushed:

Sure thing. If there’s still a problem or if something else comes up, just come back and ask. I’ve added the pattern to my favorites.

This is the finished jumper! My daughter is very pleased with it.
