Sewing together your knitting

Hi everyone

I’m a newbie here and although I used to knit when I was a little girl - about 7 - it’s been about 30 years since I’ve been knitting! I’ve been lurking for a while and have got loads of tips, help and advice already so thank you!

The question I have is that although I have just finished my first pair of mittens (for my daughter), are there any tips about sewing them together or just do what seems right? After finally being able to follow a pattern, I don’t want my sewing of them to fall apart!

Mattress stitch is usually used for most things. There’s a video in the tips section on finishing techniques.

Next time try them seamless so you have no seaming. :wink:

Seamless? Oh my word!! I’ve only just figured out how to follow a pattern, let alone getting seamless :aww:

It’s kind of the next step to take, and the finished piece often looks (and feels) nicer. I went from knitting flat to knitting seamless (or “in the round”) fairly easily. Just practice and look at videos online!
