Sewing shoulder seams together

I need to sew the shoulder pieces together on an infant outfit I am making. I am wondering if there is any good way to sew the seams together when both sides are already casted off. Any suggestions? It is very fine yarn and the seaming will be noticeable.

This page from Lion Brand has instructions for how to put shoulder seams together. It’s at the bottom.
It’s not invisible, but the seam still looks nice.

If you haven’t already done your sewing and finished your sweater, here’s an alternative:

It’s called the three needle bindoff. You start with your shoulder stitches on their respective needles, side by side with the right sides together. Hold the two needles in your left hand. You take your third needle, put it through the first stitch on both needles, and knit them together. You do the same for the second stitch on both needles, then you bind off one stitch by slipping the first stitch on your right needle over the second one. Keep it up all the way down the seam, just like for a regular bind off. The only difference is that you’re always knitting into a stitch from each of the two needles.

It makes a strong and attractive seam, and I find it easier than sewing. (I still have trouble seeing stitches in real life the way they appear in diagrams!)
