Sewing lining in purse

What is the best way to sew a lining in a knitted purse? Would you use a sewing machine or do you need to sew in by hand? I love the knowledge of this forum. It is wonderful.

It has been my experience that sewing by hand works best. Make small stitches and grab just the inside yarn. Going all the way through the knitting with a machine can cause puckers. Of course, if this purse will get lots of use and carry much weight, the machine sewing may work best for you. :x:

Here’s a link I have bookmarked.

This is a great tutorial to line a purse. Thank you.

Just saw your question about lining a knitted purse. I have done this literally hundreds of times for my purse designs. If you go to my site: www.barbsbags.com and click on the link on the left side of the page called Techniques, the page will come up and scroll down a bit and it gives “lining suggestions”.

Let me know how this works for you. While you are there, check out my beaded purse patterns.

Good luck!
