Hello Knitters! Well, I made it! I’ve completed knitting my first sweater and all thats left is to sew in the sleeves. This is where I’m quite stuck. I understand mattress stitch, and see that it would be a great way to work the seam. The problem is that the edges of the sleeve (that theoretically connect to the shoulder etc) are a combination of normal knitting, decreases, and bind offs. So mattress stitch only would come in to play once in a while. For most of the sewing up I’m clueless. I must admit, sewing is a weak skill for me. I’m using the pattern out of Ann Budd’s “A Knitters Handy Book of Patterns”. Has anyone used this sweater pattern and can give me some tips on sewing the sleeves to the body? ThANKS!
