Can anyone tell me the way to sew shoulder seams that have a castoff edge to them? The pattern said to cast off but that leaves a finished edge and now I don’t know how to sew them without that showing. Can I still graft with this type of edge?
You can use a mattress stitch that puts the bound off sts on the inside.
Here is a link to the contents of a free on-line knitting book. There is quite a bit about seaming and this type of seam is included. Nice pictures and text explanations. Chapter 17 is Seam Theory and 19 is Horizontal Seams which is what you want.
