Setup round

I’m knitting fingerless gloves with a thumb, in the round. I’ve finished the wrist ribbing, next it says:

Thumb gusset
Setup round: k1, PM, knit to last stitch, PM, k1.

Can someone explain this to me???

PM stands for Place Marker.

So you would knit one stitch, put in a stitch marker, knit around to the last stitch of the round, put in a stitch marker and then knit the last stitch.

The following rows will probably tell you to knit/purl up to the marker.
