Set up row question

BLANKET
Cast on 116 sts.Work in 1 x 1 Rib for 1", ending after a WS row.
Next (set-up) row: Work 9 sts in established patt, pm, work Row
1 of chart over next 98 sts, pm, work last 9 sts in
established patt.
Continue in established patt, slipping markers as you come to
them, until piece measures 21½ (22)" from beg, ending after a WS
row and several plain rows. Remove markers on last row.
Work in 1 x 1 Rib over all sts for 1".
Bind off all sts loosely in rib, or use sewn bind-off.

My question is about place markers. Where exactly am I putting them after the set up row? Thanks!

you’re placing them during the set up row…:

“Next (set-up) row: Work 9 sts in established patt, PM, work Row
1 of chart over next 98 sts, PM, work last 9 sts in
established patt.”

the PMs are for place marker. after this every time you come to them, just slip them from one needle to the next and keep moving. this way they stay in place and move up the blanket the whole time, so they’re always a reminder.

holler if you need more.

Thanks!

Hi Anna and welcome!
Can you help us out please and edit your first post to remove the first part, the directions for the Gull pattern? We only need the second part and reprinting whole patterns brings up copyright problems.
Enjoy knitting your blanket.
