Set in Sleeves,help!

I am doing the finishing on my sweater.It calls for SET IN SLEEVES, but doesnt tell me how to do it. :crying: I am frustrated trying to figure it out. :crying: Its out of the book Hip Knits page 57 Cowl Neck Sweater…HELP! Amy

I’m guessing that your problem is with sewing them in? If you’ve never sewn a sleeve, it can get confusing. Basically, you line up the seam of your sleeve, with the side seam of the body. You find the centre top of the sleeve, and line that up with the shoulder seam. Using that as your guide, you can ease in the rest of your sleeve to fit the armhole. Clear as mud?

I usually use short lengths of yarn and tie the top of the sleeve to my shoulder seam, the bottom of the sleeve to the underarms of the sweater, and a few places in between.

I do start sewing at the top and working my way down, just in case there’s some unevenness so it can be hidden under the arm.
