Selling Your knitted objects for profit

Hello there! I have a project for school, and I have to pick a topic that is something I like, and can write a 4-6 “paper” on. I chose “How to make a profit from Knitting”. A librarian at my school told me that i’d have to sorta get a title of a business or something.
Does anyone know
[ul]
What I would have to do to be able to sell my knitted objects?
What objects are more disired?
What I would need to base the cost of the object on?
How I can get attention for my knitted objects that I want to sell?[/ul]
Please message me!

Well, as for finding a business… have you checked your area for local yarn stores? I’m not talking Michael’s, Walmart or Hobby Lobby but the real yarn stores, where all they sell is yarn and things to knit or crochet with. As for pricing… you really need to base your price off cost of supplies and your time. If you made the pattern, you also charge a little for the time consumed doing that. With the internet, it’s easy to sell items. You would basically just have to make said item, then put it up on a site to sell (there are sites that either charge you a little per item or transaction or charge you when you sell). That’s the simplest. You can also go to faires, conventions, etc. or can consign your stuff in someone’s store.

  1. Be sure you are NOT USING a copyright protected pattern.
  2. Scarves, hats, gloves
  3. 1/2 cent per stitch plus cost of yarn
    4) Open an ETSY shop. Open an Ebay account. Rent a booth a local craft venues. Mail flyers/photos to prospective customers, such as your hairdresser. Try to leave your friends and family out of it.
