Seed stitch as border question

anybody know how to get the gauge the same when doing a 3 3/4" border of seed stitch and the eyelet diamond pattern in the body? I’m doing the eyelet diamond on a 4.25mm. I’m up to a US 8 and using a US 9 every 4th row on the border and it’s still a little shorter. Ideas would be much appreciated.

What pattern are you using? Is the border knitted at the ends of the rows as you go along? I’ve used short rows to even out the row gauge on the border or on an inset when the rest in is stockinette.

Do some short rows on the border sts.

Row 1 (RS): Border, body, border
Row 2 (WS): Border, body, border
Row 3 (RS): border, turn
Row 4 (WS): border, turn
Row 5 (RS): Border, body, border
Row 6 (WS): border, turn
Row 7 (RS): border, turn
Row 8 (WS): border, body, border
Repeat as needed to add length to the border

Ah-ha! great idea! Thanks!!!
