Seed Stich Help!

Argh! I was about halfway in my sister’s seed stich scarf when disaster struck! I noticed once stich looked odd so I counted and realized I had added an extra loop somewhere, so I ripped out few rows and put my needle back on. I must be doing something wrong b/c it doesn’t seem like I have pearl / knit alternatively anymore. It seems like I mostly have pearls along with something from another planet! I’ve ripped out so much trying to correct this and I can’t! I don’t know if I looking at it wrong or threading it wrong or what. If anyone can hep it would much appreciated. Thanks!

assuming you are doing a 1-row, 1x1 seed stitch, the way you can tell you are doing it correctly is when you see a purl stitch on the needle, you knit it, and if you see a knit stitch, you purl it. an easy way to keep this in check when knitting a scarf is to start with an odd number of stitches and that way you will always begin each row with K1 and that will work out in seed stitch perfectly.
