Seed/Moss Stitch in the round?

Hello! I’m making my first ever cowl without using a pattern and I wanted to do it in seed or moss stitch because I’ve heard that both are relatively thick stitches. I cast on an even number of stitches so I can have ribbing on the edges but I can’t seem to get either to work on the number of stitches I have. Do they only work for an odd number of stitches or is there another way to do it?

Welcome to the forum!
Are you doing seed or moss st as k1p1 repeats or are you doing k2p2? I have the same question for the ribbing.
If you cast on an even number of sts and join to work in the round, k1p1 will work. For a k2p2 repeat you need a cast on number divisible by 4.

Thank you very much! Would that make it noticeable where the round starts or would it work fine either way (for the k2p2)?

As long as you have a multiple of 4 for the pattern in k2p2 it’s fine. And you won’t notice the join.
