Someone was asking about this the other week, and I found a link to a current designer who had explored it, but just now I noticed that Elizabeth Zimmermann had already done it many years ago. Pattern recipe is in “Knitting Workshop” (both editions).

Yes, I must give this a try. Might do a child’s size just for fun.
I wonder why it didn’t catch on as much as her other bottom-up designs.
