Seaming/seawing Knit Sampler Blanket

Hi,
I am knitting a sampler blanket and am wondering if there is a way to make it look seamless. I have just read the post about the Kitchner stitch and I know you need live stiches for that, so what if I picked up stiches to make them live?

If this won’t work, is the only other alternative the mattress stitch? I don’t mind doing it, but I don’t like how you can see the seam on the back side…although the blanket certainly has a right side and wrong side, I think it would be more subtle with out obvious seams.

Thanks for all your sharing…

You could try a whip stitch, here’s a couple links,
