Seaming question

Does anyone know of videos that will show how to seam two pieces together that isn’t the kitchner stitch?
I tried to do the mattress stitch, but only found written instructions and looking at what I did, I know I did something wrong I just don’t know what! LOL!
Thanks =)

I’m sorry, I don’t know of any other videos. But this article is pretty good. (If you haven’t already read it :??)

Hope that helps a little!

Thanks … it does. Looking at that I did do the right thing. However, my project was knitted with 2 strands and isn’t knit tightly (bigger needles). I think I need to seam with 2 strands of yarn so it matches the rest maybe? Becuase it all pulls, but you can tell where I seamed since it looks like the yarn is thinner (if that makes any sense at all) I’ll try it and see … I guess I just need to get in there and practice, practice, practice.

Oh yes! Definitely seam with 2 strands. And make sure you don’t seam too tightly, as that may tend to scrunch the work too. I think you’ll find 2 strands better! :wink:

Good Luck!

what if the project isbeing folded in half and sewn together … in the article it shows things laid out netx to each other. i cant figure how to make it work with a folded project.
help.

:thinking: You could fold the project in half with wrong sides facing each other and Whip-St or Backstitch to seam it. That’s what I’ve always done. I find Whip-St easiest.

i don’t even know what backstitch or whip stitch is.
so far i’ve made a million and one scarves.
i should just stick to those.

Oh no no no …:fingerwag: there is more to knitting than scarves :x: … BE ENCOURAGED!!! :thumbsup:

I couldn’t find any videos for whip stitch, but here is a picture walk through of whip stitch. I found this and this (a video) to describe backstitch.

Neither of these are invisible, but if done neatly, they can look quite nice!

Hope that helps!
