Seaming Double Knit Cowl

Hello! I’m working on a double-knit cowl, it’s this one from Vogue Knitting:

I’ve never seamed a double knit cowl before and could use some advice. The pattern just says to sew the CO and BO edges together, but no suggestions on how. I’ve always preferred kitchener stitch for grafting, but I can’t find anything on how to do that with double-knitting.

So my question is: does anyone have any advice, articles, or video tutorials on how to graft two double-knit edges together? I’ve looked everywhere and am finding nothing. Thanks!
