Seam for a folded hat edge?

I’m making a basic hat with an exterior and a lining. What type of seam would be good to sew the two brim edges of the hat together so when you fold the lining into the hat, the edge isn’t bulky? I was thinking of a mattress seam, but when I fold the lining into the hat, the seam would be bulky.

I’ve made a double hat, but I didn’t seam at all. Did it in the round. Do you have a pattern you’re using?

Are you making two hats and seaming or are you using a double knit technique?

I’m just making the pattern up as I go along. I’m making two hats, one for the outside and one for the lining and then sewing the bottom edges of the hats together.

Hmm… This is the only one I’ve made -

I wonder if you could do it your way with a provisional cast on and then kitchener them together and then pick up stitches for the brim?
