I started making this blanket to get rid of some yarn. Although it’s not knitted (it’s crocheted), I wanted to see what y’all thought of it. Is it just ugly (my sister said it was)? Should I tried to coordinate colors more? Should I switch colors less often? Should I come up with a different pattern (this is a basketweave if you can’t see it that well)? Any comments, good or bad, are appreciated!
I like it! I love blankets like that. I’ve got one my sister made me when I was little (a granny sqare blanket) that I still use-it was made from scrap yarn too.
I have a lot of blankets that my great-grandmother and grandmother made. Of course, these were quilted rather than knitted, but your blanket reminds me of my great-grandmother’s blankets. I like yours the way it is because of that. It looks like a family heirloom!
Gosh, your sister must know MY sister! What is UP with that?:tap:Her cup is always 1/2 empty. Grrrrrrrrr…
Frankly, I happen to adore the “funky nana” look and have decorated my whole existence like that. That blanket, in my opinion, is awesome!
Thanks for sharing.
PS: You know, there is a struggling woman out there who can’t afford even the smallest luxury. Imagine how she would feel if you gave your beautiful blanket to HER? You can think of THAT every time someone makes a comment.
Sorry for the rant.:!!!: It’s just that my whole like has been like that. I’ve spent many years trying to get rid of that baggage and it really burns me. It doesn’t matter if it’s said with a smile or not, it’s still wrong to put someone down.
It is a work of art! I think you balanced the colors and textures just perfectly! You should get the Year of the Stash award too for using your remnants! Excellent work!
I think it’s unique!!! And that’s what scrap balnket should be!:cheering:
and if you want to be academic - it shows the post-modern confusion of western society :roflhard::roflhard::roflhard::roflhard: (my degree speaking out of me :rofling::rofling:)
As ‘slightly addicted’ said…I also think it has a vintage took to it and is quite attractive! I would just weave it and/or clip a few stray threads…but enjoy!
KnittingNat…well phrased LOL post post modern blanket
