Does anyone know of a book/blog/etc. where the science behind using short rows is explained? I know how to use the technique, but I have no idea how to calculate the use of short rows.
That is to say: I want to learn how much fabric is added and on what axis. I would like to be able to learn how to use short rows for more than just bust shaping, and it would be very nice to learn how to stay “in pattern” while doing the short rows (because how often do I knit something in St st? Almost never!).
Thanks to anyone who knows where such info can be found!
Righetti has sections in her ‘Sweater Design in Plain English’ on how/where to incorporate SRs for bust, stooped upper back, beer belly, rounded shoulders, etc. She gives info on determining area, how to calc rows, etc.
Try “Sweater Design in Plain English” by Maggie Righetti. Great book that delves into both the techniques and mathematics of designing sweaters. She explains the use of short rows for darts, ease, etc.
