Mom is returning to college after decades in the workforce and seeking scholarships and aid. Does anyone know of any good resources for this, or perhaps a story of someone they know who did the same thing? I’ve researched a lot, but everything I’ve found is aimed at the high school graduate set. Any help you could give would be much appreciated!! 
I would recommend that she contact the financial aid office at the school she plans to attend. They will be the most up to date on the resources available to her.
I’m a college financial aid counselor and I second cftwo’s response. Many schools have scholarships for non-traditional students, but she would need to check with specific schools to see what they offer, what their deadlines and criteria are, etc.
Depending on her income, she may be able to qualify for other types of grant aid and also student loans, if she’s interested. Aid comes in many forms - federal, state, institutional, private - but the financial aid office really is the best starting point.
Depending on where you live and how old your mother is, she may be able to have her education subsidized because she would be considered a Senior Citizen. I know my college roommate’s mother returned to college this way. I’m sure the financial aid office would know about this.
Thanks to all! She’s already gone through the whole financial aid business at her school, but still has a pretty hefty bill. I don’t think she’s quite senior citizen material (53) but I’ll definitely look into that…

The first link is to an org named Fastweb that I used in high school when I was applying for scholarships. It’s a great resource for all kinds of aid.
Smith College has a well known scholarship program for older women returning or going to college. I know its not in your neck of the woods but I thought I would add offer that.
