Scarf patterns

Hi. I would consider myself an advanced beginner. My 4 1/2 daughter was so nice as to inform her 2 teachers that I would knit them scarves. I’m looking for a different, but easy and quick pattern. Have any suggestions? Her one teacher is very into her Irish heritage and I have beautiful green yarn. Anything for St. Patrick’s day?

Would you like to do something lacy? Or a more solid stitch? And are her teachers male or female?

Her teachers are both women. I think I would like a more solid stitch. Lacy may be too difficult?

Well, if you wanted to try lacy, you could do a scarf in feather and fan. It’s really easy, I promise, and all but one row of the pattern are just knit across or purl across.

Figure out how wide you want your scarf to be based on the weight of your yarn.

Cast on a multiple of 18.

Work 8 rows of garter stitch (K every row).(This is just to make an edging. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.)

Row 1: K across
Row 2: P across
Row 3: K 2 tog 3 times, YO, K1 6 times, K 2 tog 3 times. Repeat between asterisks across.
Row 4: K across

Work the feather and fan stitch until you reach desired length. End by working 8 rows garter stitch if you chose to have the border.

You can also put a marker between each repeat of 18 stitches, which will help you keep track of the stitches.
