Scalloped BO edge?

I’m knitting a cute little baby blanket and I love the pattern!

It’s this one: http://www.knitting-and.com/wiki/Garter_Ripple_Baby_Blanket

You can see how it’s scalloped on the bottom edge, which is gorgeous.

But the top edge is going to be just plain straight, which is bothering me.

I can’t figure out if there’s a way I can make that top edge scalloped too, so it looks just as beautiful…and symmetrical!

I don’t crochet, so that’s not doable. :frowning:

Is it possible to make the top edge scalloped or am I stuck with the boring, straight edge?

Thanks!

I think with that pattern that when you bind off, it will automatically make a scalloped edge. The pattern should tell you which row you need to complete before you start the bind off.

Sorry…I just looked at the pattern again and I see it doesn’t tell you the row to complete before binding off. But, my original answer still stands. I believe with a scalloped pattern like that it will naturally have the scalloped bound-off edge.

Yes, this has been my experience with scalloped patterns. The top edge only looks straight now because the needles hold it that way. Once it’s bound off it’ll be wavy. Do the BO on row 2 or row 3 of the pattern.

I just finished it last night, and the bound off edge is straight. :frowning:

It doesn’t look horrible, though, so I’m okay with it!

Thanks for trying to help!

It helps to bind off with a needle that’s a couple sizes larger. That keeps it loose so it waves.
