Scallop shell lace

I’m trying to do what is called a scallop shell lace and I am VERY confused with row 1…this is what it says…

(RS) Row 1: K1, *K5, 1 at a time, lift the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th sts just worked over the 1st st and off the needle, YO; rpt from * to last st, K1.

I do not understand lifting the 2nd to 5th stitches. If I have to lift them over the first stitch then they are going onto the right needle and therefore can’t come off the needle…HELP!!!

You are not going to put the stitches on the other needle. When it says to lift the stitches 1-5 over another stitch it is like you are binding off. It forms a small bobble. It is a small detail that sometimes confuses many people.I hope this helps.

This is similar to binding off, k2 and pass the first stitch over the second, but you’ll be passing stitches 2, 3, 4, and 5 over the first stitch. I’m looking for a video but not finding one.

:teehee: I was looking for a video and you were posting. I’m glad we agree that it’s like a BO.
