Saw this scarf at Target

and fell in LOVE with the pattern. I have looked around for the stitch pattern but haven’t been able to find it so far. I’m hoping someone here will have some ideas. I found it online here and you can zoom in on the picture for more detail.

Well, it’s a basic 1x1 ribbing, then it looks like a kind of twist stitch on the outer sts of a 10 st set. Or maybe it’s stitched in order to make it pucker a little. Would have to take a look at it in person to say for sure.

I know what you mean. I actually thought of buying the blasted scarf just to take it to S&B on Friday then returning it! LOL Isn’t that horrible?

Look at the top of the pic, where you get to see the “wrong” side - to me, it almost looks smocked. Like a basic 1x1 rib, then smocked every 10 stitches, but alternating (not smocked across the row, horizontal, just off-set).

Not sure what I’m saying makes sense, but to me, I see smocking, no twist, no cables, just smocked.

That’s really pretty and it does look smocked.

ETA: This one was probably machine knitted, but I have an idea of how this might be done. I’ll have to play with it a bit though so it might be a few weeks or so.

Jan, you’re so fancy and profesasional! LOL. :cheering:

 Thanks!

In the little I’ve played with it this morning the smocking really seems like it was done by hand, but for that price I don’t see how it could be. I’ve got a few more ideas…

it almost looks smocked.

Smocked, that’s the word I couldn’t think of this morning - the stitching to make it pucker…

I’ve done a little more testing and I think to have it look like this you’ll have to do it by hand. Sorry I couldn’t come up with something.

i swear I saw this pattern on ravely. I’ll see if I can find it again

found it

Thank you! I never would have figure that out on my own. I have what I hope will be the perfect yarn for it so I’ll be making one, too!

It was sort of a lucky coincidence. I was poking ravelry for some scarf patterns to make for people this winter. I saw a lot of the usual suspects like “wavy”, “column of leaves” and the various cabled scarves but then I saw that Flo scarf and went “now that is cool”. I “favorited it”.

I went to look for the scarf for this thread and couldn’t find it anywhere and that’s when I remember that I favorited it. haha

And it’s free, too! Good job.

Thanks so much!!! I’m printing it now!
