Same pattern? any crocheters out there?

hi everyone, my friends baby is due in about a month and i would love to make her a little blanket. i’ve got tons of yarn, and i found this really cute pattern but i’m not really good with crocheting. soooooooooooooo I was wondering if any of you crocheters can help me out a bit and either explain the instructions to me for the crochet link or if you guys can tell me if these two patterns are pretty much alike???

yarn lady i’m a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy new crocheter, the only thing ive ever done was a dishcloth using sc. i actually found another blanket i like better but i’m just confused about one thing. i’m tryin to figure it out. lol
hopefully i will figure it out because i really want to me this one now instead since i have those exact colors in lion brand pound of love.
