new to knitting
I just recently took a knitting class and we made mittens and a hat… i love it! I am currently in a knit-a-long knitting a baby surprise jacket for my 9 month granddaughter… i’m getting very good at tinking… lol! now i’m starting, or trying to start, a scarf… a chevron scarf and am baffled already… the first row is Kf&b, k1, which i know how to do, but then it says:knitting: “turn”… that means put right needle in left hand, etc., right? the second row is S11 p-wise wyf, k2… Okay, i’m stumped… HELP! :knitting:
Sounds like on the second row you slip 1 purlwise (sl1 p-wise) with yarn in front, (wyf), meaning the working yarn is coming toward you before slipping the stitch to the right needle as if you were going to purl it. Then take the yarn to the back of the work and knit 2. What your doing is wrapping a stitch.
That’s ‘slip 1 purl wise with the yarn in front’. With some fonts the 1 and l look alike. Move the yarn to the front, slip a stitch from left needle to the right as if you’re going to purl it, but don’t (just stick the right needle into it as if to purl), then bring the yarn back to knit 2 sts.
Thanks so much, guys! You saved a scarf!
